Introduction An estimated 50 to 70 million American adults have a sleep or wakefulness disorder. Data from the 2009 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) survey was used to assess the prevalence of unhealthy sleep behaviors by selected socio-demographic factors and geographic variations in 12 states.
