Looking Back, Moving Forward: The Past Five Years at Mind Alive
As we celebrate 45 years at Mind Alive, we are realizing it is more than an anniversary. It’s a reminder that hard work and dedication add up - session by session, client by client, and breakthrough by breakthrough. We’ve entered an exciting period of leadership transitions, major product launches, powerful new session updates, and ongoing research that continues to move our products forward.
A 45-Year Legacy - with Dave and Nancy Enjoying a Well-Deserved New Rhythm
After more than four decades of building and guiding Mind Alive Inc., Dave and Nancy have both semi-retired, now coming into the office just one day a week. They’re enjoying a new rhythm of life at the lake, spending more time with friends and family, and especially enjoying their grandchildren. At the same time, they’re trusting the next generation to carry the company forward into this next chapter.
Their legacy continues through their children, who are taking on larger roles within the company. Their son, Shaun, is now our Operations Manager, and their daughter, Krysta, has also joined the company part-time.
New Launches: DAVID Premier, Spectrum Eyesets, and DAVID Studio
In November 2024, we launched the DAVID Premier with Spectrum eyeset, and we’re genuinely excited about what a game changer this platform has been for users and clinicians alike. If you’d like a practical walkthrough, check out our recent webinar Getting Started with the Premier, for an introduction to the device and its features.
We also launched the Spectrum Viewhole eyeset, which offers white plus 12 additional colors directly from the Premier, with up to 10,000 color choices available when using DAVID Studio. The Spectrum Viewhole eyeset can also be used with our Windows-based DAVID Breathe PC App and DAVID Live PC App.
To give users even more flexibility and control, we developed and released DAVID Studio, an app that allows users to:
• Edit DAVID Premier sessions.
• Create their own sessions and upload them to a microSD card for use on the Premier.
• Upload WAV-format audio tracks to the microSD card and select them from the available audio choices.
More Sessions, New Research, and What’s Next
We welcomed clinicians John Lemay and Rebecca Bassham as scientific advisers for Mind Alive Inc. Both have been successfully using our devices in their clinical practices and sharing valuable insights about how their clients have benefited from our sessions and technology.
We’ve expanded our session library with many new sessions added to the Premier, bringing the total number of AVE sessions on the device to 62.
These include:
• EMDR
• Ganzfeld
• Gamma
• HRV
• CSF Pump
Dave Siever designed the CSF Circulate (Pump) sessions to support glymphatic waste removal. We now have an article featuring pre- and post-AVE brain maps that showed significant improvements in one individual using the CSF Pump while managing Parkinson’s symptoms. John Lemay has also used the CSF Pump in his work with individuals with Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis.
Dave has also created a unique Cranio-Electro Stimulation (CES) pain session called Dual Action, which can be found in the CES Research category. He paired this CES session with both a Mood Booster session and a Relaxation session, available in the AVE Research category.
Until now, the CES options available on our devices have generally been limited to either syncing with the AVE frequency or using 100 Hz. These new combinations open up additional possibilities for exploration and research.
And the research continues. Dave is now exploring the use of AVE and tDCS together on the Premier, building on the work John Lemay has already been doing with this combination and the results he has reported.
Evolving Products and the Next Chapter
Since the original design of the DAVID Delight series and Oasis Pro, some of the components used in these products have become obsolete. As a result, we made the decision to discontinue the Oasis Pro. With both the Delight Pro and DAVID Premier offering CES capabilities, there are now newer options available to users. And, as Dave will tell you, using CES on the Premier is a superior experience.
