Previous Training this year: We presented new findings about how Audio-Visual Entrainment (AVE) helps resolve concussion symptoms. Prevalent in falls, motor-vehicle accidents, sports injuries (and even fever), diffuse axonal interruptions/injuries (DAI) are the most prevalent brain injuries today. Brain regions far outside the site of injury are affected and these neurons may be taken off-line. A DAI typically involves the white matter between the neurons and the thalamus. This disconnect impairs cognition, emotional stability and sleep. As a result, proteins build up in the brain which eventually leads to Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy in athletes and Alzheimer's in others.

Medicine typically uses MRI to diagnose concussion. However, true concussion is caused by a disconnect in the loop between the thalamus and the cortex, and furthermore, the circuits are usually intact - just offline. Medicine should use electroencephalography (EEG) tracing and quantified EEG (qEEG) as a means of detecting concussion. Once the physiology of concussion is understood, its signature on EEG jumps out like a hot potato.

Audio-Visual Entrainment (AVE) is a technique which utilizes flashing lights and pulsing tones to guide the brain into various states of consciousness. However, recently, it was found out that AVE can be used to jump-start the brain from a concussion in about 15 minutes at which the concussed person quickly feels an increase in mental sharpness, emotion control and improved sleep.

In 1984, Dave designed his first Audio-Visual Entrainment (AVE) device - the "Digital Audio-Visual Integration Device" or DAVID 1. Since that time, through his company, Mind Alive Inc., Dave continues to research and refine AVE technology specifically for use in relaxation, boosting academic and sports performance and treating anxiety, depression, PMS, ADD/ADHD, FMS, SAD, pain, cognitive decline and insomnia.
