DAVID Breathe is a tool that teaches you to breathe in a calm and meditative way, so you can re-establish a healthy heart rate rhythm using Heart Rate Variability to help you achieve a deep state of relaxation.

By flashing lights into the eyes, we gently and safely guide the brain into various mental states. While the Spectrum™ eyeset flashes lights, the colors of the lights change so that you know when to inhale and when to exhale.
Our heart rate speeds up with every breath in and slows down with every breath out. This difference in heart rate between the fastest heart rate on the in-breath and the slowest heart rate on the out-breath is called Heart Rate Variability (HRV). A typical HRV swing is about 15 beats per minute (bpm). When people get stressed, the heart typically clamps (restricts) to 5 bpm or less, and at times intermixed with sharp spikes in heart rate. This is abnormal activity and puts stress on the heart. HRV is an emerging therapy used to achieve meditation through scientifically guided breathing and heart rate monitoring. It is used primarily for those struggling with anxiety, trauma, and PTSD. While many of these people are too dysregulated to begin to control their breathing and heart rate on their own, with the assistance of visual entrainment, most of these people quickly and effectively learn to breathe.
By practicing with DAVID Breathe, you will learn how to breathe in a calm, meditative way so you can re-establish a healthy heart rate rhythm. We suggest working towards a 10-second breathing cycle (six breaths/minute), by inhaling for four seconds and exhaling for six seconds in an easy, relaxed breath. However, DAVID Breathe does allow for you to adjust the length of time for in and out breaths.

When you are feeling tense and needing a break, simply watch the shape and breathe in as it expands and breathe out as it gets smaller. Feel your body and mind relax into calmness as you feel yourself recharge. When overly tense and in need of even deeper calming, use the Spectrum™ eyeset to help with your breathing. The Spectrum™ eyeset (available from Mind Alive Inc.) uses visual entrainment to help guide your brainwaves into a calm, meditative state and provide powerful relaxation that will boost brain power and improve performance shortly after the session has ended. The Spectrum™ eyeset may be set to various mental states from sleep to energizing. The colors will change, letting you know when to breathe in and when to breathe out.
Plug and play! Just plug the Spectrum™ eyeset into a USB port on your work or home computer and use with DAVID Breathe. Once connected you will be able to enjoy integrated use of the Spectrum™ eyeset, Breathing colours are selected to assist with controlled breathing. The user will be able to select one of seven sessions (Sub-Delta, Schumann, Healthy Alpha, Mood Booster, Brain Booster, Energize, or Gamma) and the intended duration (5-30 minutes). For best results make yourself comfortable and try to limit interruptions. If you are using the Spectrum™ eyeset, we recommend drinking a glass of water before your entrainment session.
